How it works
One of our vetted partner firms. We're not a removals company ourselves; we're the bit in front of it. We work out which firm suits your house, your street and your date, and they do the move with their own employed crew and their own insurance.
No. Comparison sites sell your number to five firms and let them fight over you. We pick one — the right one — and you only ever deal with us and them.
You can, and some people should. What you don't get is someone who has already checked the insurance with the insurer, read the reviews and the paperwork, and knows which crew is good with Victorian staircases and which isn't.
None but us. Your details aren't passed to the firm until you've approved the quote, and they aren't passed to anybody else at all — ever.
There's no Not Just Any Van fee. You get one price from the firm, agreed upfront, and nothing is added to it afterwards by us. Our commission is settled directly with the firm.
Billy Jackson. He ran Jacko's Removals before this, so he's done the job himself — lofts, pianos, permit streets, the lot. Every firm on our books has been through his checks before it gets any work.
We ring you, usually the same working day. We ask about the house, the access and the date, match you to a firm, and come back with a single written quote. Nothing is booked until you say so.
You can tell us who you'd rather not have, and we'll respect that. Choosing between five firms is the job we're doing for you — but the final quote is always yours to accept or turn down.
Pricing
A fixed price for the job as described. If what's in the house on the day is meaningfully different from what you told us — an extra bedroom's worth, a garage nobody mentioned — the crew will tell you what that changes before they start loading.
Volume, access and distance, roughly in that order. Then packing, dismantling, storage and anything heavy or awkward. Stairs and parking move the price more than mileage does.
Usually, to hold the date. For a standard removals booking it's normally £180, paid to us rather than to the firm, and it comes off the total. Whatever applies is stated on your quote before you commit, and it's paid by card through a secure payment link we send you — we never ask for card details over the phone. The full terms are on our terms and conditions page.
The balance is normally due no later than seven days before the move date, by card through a secure payment link we send you. It's on the quote, in plain English, before you're asked for anything.
No. Anything likely to add cost — a bay suspension, a long carry, a second van, waiting time on a slow completion — is flagged on the quote as a possibility with a price attached.
Yes, and plenty of people do. We'll quote both ways so you can see what your Saturday is worth.
Not always, and we don't try to be. The cheapest quote is usually cheap because someone is uninsured, self-employed by the day, or planning to renegotiate on the driveway.
Yes, on a scale that depends how close to the move you cancel — the deposit is forfeited more than seven days out, and closer than that a share of the balance is retained too. It's set out in full on our terms and conditions page and shown again on your quote. Tell us as early as you can and we'll do what we can; Billy will look at genuinely exceptional circumstances.
Booking & dates
Two to three weeks is comfortable. Fridays and month-ends go first, and late September and June are busy with student turnover. If your date is fixed, tell us early.
Often, yes — sometimes within a few days. Ring rather than fill the form in if you're inside a week; it's faster.
Very normal. We hold the date provisionally and shift it when the solicitors settle. Tell us as soon as you hear, and we'll rework it with the firm.
Yes. Saturdays are common and book up early; Sundays and bank holidays are possible and usually cost more.
Tell us as soon as you know. If nothing has been booked yet you've lost nothing. Once a deposit is paid our cancellation terms apply — they're on the terms and conditions page and on your quote — and we'll explain exactly what that means for your date before you pay anything.
Yes, and we plan for it properly — an early load, a wait built into the day, and a crew who won't disappear at 3pm if the keys are late.
On the day
Usually between 8 and 9am, confirmed the day before. City centre and permit-street jobs sometimes start earlier to get the van in.
At both ends, ideally — or someone who can make decisions. You don't need to lift anything.
Yes, if it's on the quote. Say so up front and the crew brings the right tools and allows the time.
We sort this before the day. Where the street is permit-only we apply to the council for a bay suspension; where a big van can't get in, we plan a shuttle with a smaller one.
A few things no removals firm will carry: petrol, gas bottles, paint, aerosols, anything alive. Plants and pets are best in your own car.
For a local move, yes — same van, same people. On long distance it's usually the same crew, and if it isn't we tell you in advance.
Floors get covered, boxes get sheeted, and the day goes ahead. Removals crews work in British weather for a living.
Packing & materials
Full pack, part pack (kitchen and breakables only is the popular one), or materials dropped off so you can do it yourself. All three are priced on the quote.
Usually the day before for a full pack, or the same morning for a part pack of just the fragile things.
Yes — dropped at the house a week or two before, so you can start on the loft and the garage while there's still time.
No. Unused, unopened materials go back on the van and come off the bill.
Storage
We store the load and bring it back when your new place is ready. Same firm, same crew, one price covering both halves.
Containerised in a secure local facility, insured while it's there. It stays sealed from the moment it's loaded until it's delivered.
With notice, usually yes. If you know you'll need access, say so early and we'll pick a facility that makes that easy.
Insurance & damage
Every firm we use carries goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and we verify it with the insurer rather than take a certificate on trust. The cover level for your move is stated on your quote.
Tell us as well as the firm. We chase it on your behalf — being the middle isn't much use if we vanish when there's a problem — and a firm that handles claims badly stops getting work from us.
For anything unusually valuable — jewellery, art, an instrument you'd struggle to replace — carry it yourself or ask us about extra cover before the day.
Insurance and documents verified at source, reviews and business information gone through properly, employed crews rather than day labour, and — where it's warranted — an in-person assessment of the yard and the vans. Firms that slip get removed.
Areas & services
Moves that start or end in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Thetford, Dereham or Diss, plus the villages around them — one end of the move needs to be on our patch, and the other end can be anywhere in the country. If we can't cover your street well, we'll say so instead of taking the enquiry.
Yes. Norfolk to anywhere in the UK, with a local firm you'd have met anyway taking the load the whole way rather than handing it over.
Yes, with crews who've done that particular kind of job before. Safes, pianos, pool tables, garden machinery — tell us and we'll match accordingly.
Yes, including out of hours where access or trading demands it. Small offices are routine; larger ones we'll come and look at.
Yes. House clearance is often a probate job, and it's handled quietly, with anything usable given a second life rather than skipped.
Yes — halls to house shares and back, timed around the September and June turnover.
For removals firms
Apply, then expect a proper look at you. We verify your insurance and documents, read your reviews and trading history, and talk to you about how you run crews — and where it's warranted we'll come and see the yard and the vans. It's not a form-filling exercise.
Nothing up front. We take a commission on completed jobs only — no monthly fee, no pay-per-lead, no bidding against four other firms for the same enquiry.
No. We cap the number of firms per area deliberately, because leads shared six ways are worth nothing to anybody.
Qualified jobs with the details already established — volume, access, dates, expectations — from customers who've already accepted a price.
Question answered? Good.
The quote tool takes a few minutes — or ring and ask the awkward one.
